Clean rooms and medicine

These environments must meet cleanliness standards that ensure minimal airborne particulates to eliminate the risk of contamination or adverse effects on work processes. Luminaires installed in these spaces must be dust-free, easily washable and resistant to disinfectants and sterilants commonly used in hospital and process industries. In addition to hygiene requirements, high quality lighting is also essential. The luminaires in operating theatres and ICUs must have a high colour rendering index (CRI) so that doctors can accurately perceive tissue and details during procedures. A low glare rating (UGR) ensures comfortable working conditions and minimises staff fatigue during prolonged exposure to bright light. In electrical component manufacturing, where precision micro-components are handled, uniform and stable lighting is crucial to ensure quality and accuracy in production. A specific requirement in these areas is for inclined versions of luminaires that allow installation in load-bearing ceiling structures, for example in the process ceilings of operating theatres or in clean production areas. These designs allow safe movement of personnel over work areas without compromising the cleanliness of the environment. Maintenance of luminaires in these facilities must be as minimally invasive as possible, so rear access is often used for servicing and replacement of components. This system allows maintenance to be carried out without the need to enter the sterile area, reducing the risk of contamination and minimising disruption to operations.
